C-REACTIVE PROTEIN RESPONSE IN ANGINA PECTORIS
C-reactive protein (CRP) response was studied in 44 patients with acute angina pectoris admitted to the coronary care unit. 71 % of patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI)had positive CRP test while 73% of patients presumed to have unstable angina pectoris had negative CRP test. This test can be helpful in differentiating between acute MI and unstable angina pectoris.
متن کاملComplement factor H binds at two independent sites to C-reactive protein in acute phase concentrations.
Factor H (FH) regulates the activation of C3b in the alternative complement pathway, both in serum and at host cell surfaces. It is composed of 20 short complement regulator (SCR) domains. The Y402H polymorphism in FH is a risk factor for age-related macular degeneration. C-reactive protein (CRP) is an acute phase protein that binds Ca(2+). We established the FH-CRP interaction using improved a...
متن کاملOxidized LDL receptor LOX-1 binds to C-reactive protein and mediates its vascular effects.
BACKGROUND C-reactive protein (CRP) exerts biological activity on vascular endothelial cells. This activity may promote atherothrombosis, but the effects of this activity are still controversial. Lectin-like oxidized LDL receptor-1 (LOX-1), the oxidized LDL receptor on endothelial cells, is involved in endothelial dysfunction induced by oxidized LDL. METHODS We used laser confocal microscopy ...
متن کاملβ-Catenin binds to the downstream region and regulates the expression C-reactive protein gene
C-Reactive protein (CRP) is a major acute-phase response protein, which is activated by various cytokines. We investigated the mechanism of TNF-alpha-induced CRP expression and found that the p50 subunit of NF-kappaB was responsible for the transcriptional activation of CRP. Since the p50 protein acts as a positive regulator of CRP expression without an inherent transactivation domain, we looke...
